Licensing and Membership

All PEI lawyers are members of the Law Society, and membership is required to be eligible to practice law here. This section describes the types of membership status, and gives information about how to become a lawyer. It also gives information to students and clerks. It provides information about the requirements for an articled clerk and the Bar Admission Course.

This section also describes how lawyers from other provinces may practice here on an occasional basis (also called “temporary mobility”). PEI lawyers may practice temporarily in other provinces under similar rules at the host Law Society.
